It is time (that) 从句所使用的7种形式解析
It is time (that) 后所接的从句采用的时态是did一般过去时或should do其中的should不省略的两种形式。
即
It’s (high/ about) time (that) + 主语 + did
It’s (high/ about) time (that) + 主语 + should do
事实上，It’s (high/about) time (that) 后所接的从句还可以使用四种其他形式:
It’s (high/ about) time (that) + 主语 + ought to do
It’s (high/ about) time (that) + 主语 + was/were doing
It’s (high/ about) time (that) + 主语 + could do
It’s (high/ about) time (that) + 主语 + do

第1种形式：It’s (high/ about) time (that) + 主语 + did
It’s time (that) sb did sth/ was doing sth并提供了相应的例句：
Isn’t it time these students went to school? 这些孩子们是不是该上学了？
It’s about time 到了该做某事的时候
It’s about time he got himself a proper job. 他该给自己找一份合适的工作。
It’s high time到了该做某事的时候
It’s high time you got a job and settled down. 你该找份工作安顿下来了。
it’s time sb did sth/ was doing sth （= used when saying that someone should do something soon）
某人不久该做某事：
It’s time we had a party. 我们该举行一次聚会了。
it’s (high) time和it’s about time
这两个用语和过去时或虚拟语气连用时指现在和将来：
It’s (high) time he was (or were) taught a lesson.
现在是该教训他的时候了。
It’s about time he learnt to look after himself.
现在已是他该学会照顾自己的时候了。
（= the time has come现已到时候了）
It’s (high) time和It’s about time之后不可以否定结构，但可以用于简略答语：
I still haven’t thanked Aunt Lucy for her present.
对露西姑姑送的礼物我还没有表示感谢呢。
—It’s time you did.
你早该谢谢她了。（你已拖得太久了）
试比较it’s time的用法：
We’ve enjoyed the evening, but it’s time (for us) to go.
今晚我们过得很愉快，不过（我们）该走了。（即：现在是我们该走的时候了）
We’ve enjoyed the evening, but it’s time we went.
今晚我们过得很愉快，不过我们早该走了。（即：我们应该比现在走得早）
It’s time that引导的同位语从句中的虚拟式：
“It’s time that…”中的that是连词，应看作是time的同位语从句，that在口语中可以省略。传统语法说这是定语从句的观点是错误的。
2 It’s (high) time (that) we went to bed.
我们早该上床就寝了。（加high表示强调）
It’s time可有下列6种句式：
It’s time for lunch/ for bed.
It’s time to have lunch/ to go to bed.
It’s time for us to have lunch/ for us to go to bed.
It’s time we had lunch/ we went to bed.
It’s time we (should) have lunch/ we (should) go to bed.
It’s time we were having lunch/ we were going to bed.
It’s time we voted the Republicans out. 该是我们把共和党选下台的时候了。
作“时间”讲，一般用time。注意some time, sometime, sometimes用法

（= It is time (that) we developed（或should develop）our high technology industry. 这里用关系副词that引出定语从句，修饰名词time。 that和should还可省略。developed和should develop是虚拟语气的形式。）
《下面几句都可以说：
It is [was] (high [about]) time for her to go to school.
It is [was] (high [about]) time (that) she went to school.
It is [was] (high [about]) time (that) she should go to school.
It is [was] (high [about]) time (that) she was going to school.
It is [was] (high [about]) time (that) she goes to school.
这几句都意为：“她（早）该上学了。”
虚拟语气
It is (high, about) time…句型要求用虚拟语气
这时，谓语动词用过去式，指现在或将来的情况，表示“早该干某事而已经有些晚了”。
It is high time we were off. 是我们该走的时候了。
It is time that we went to bed. 我们该就寝了。
It is time that somebody taught you to behave yourself.
这种结构中的过去式也可改为should + 动词原形（用should时，不能将其省略）。
第2种形式：It’s (high/ about) time (that) + 主语 + should do
It’s time that引导的同位语从句中的虚拟式：
It’s time可有下列6种句式：
It’s time for lunch/ for bed.
It’s time to have lunch/ to go to bed.
It’s time for us to have lunch/ for us to go to bed.
It’s time we had lunch/ we went to bed.

甚至在about time词条也提供了was doing 的例句：
about time是（某人该做某事）的时候：

time（应该做某事或某事应该发生的）时间，时候

过去进行体用于某些句式表示一种臆想的情况，实际上也就是表示婉转语气。

有时，偶尔也可用情态动词could，意为“（现在）该会[能]做……了”，但不可用would。例如：
Isn’t it about time our baby could walk?
(现在)我们的孩子不是已经到了该会走路的时候了吗？（怎么还不会走路呢？）（含有焦急等心情）
第7种形式：It’s (high/ about) time (that) + 主语 + are doing
move: 前行；离去，离开
It’s time we are moving. 我们该走了。
我们看到了上面的七种形式，但目前就中高考英语来讲，还是使用第1、第2种相对来说更加符合标准化考试的要求——希望看到这里的学生不要使用出错。
